OK, so I am a huge fan of the Food Network. However, it often seems as if I am watching a continuing barrage of death and destruction with each fat-saturated, diabetes-inducing bite. Here is a little recipe for you to enjoy while simply watching, rather than participating in, the carnage.

This recipe is not only good for you, but also one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. I adapted this recipe from the excellent book Raw Food, Real World and salute Sarma and Kenny for starting me on the road to one of my favorite treats. I call this delicious frozen concoction for two my Monkey Shake, and there are a few tricks to make it extra yummy. I like to use freshly yet fully frozen bananas, and I also like to blend the whole shake at least 45 ahead of time and let it sit in individual glasses in the freezer. Trust me, it’s worth planning ahead:)

2 Frozen Bananas

2 Cups Almond Milk

2 Heaping Tablespoons Carob Powder (You can make it with Raw Cacao but I don’t like the caffeine)

5-8 drops of English Toffee Flavored Stevia (I found this lovely little item at my local health food store)

Blend until smooth and stick it in the freezer until you can’t stand to wait any longer…..Enjoy!
